Conservation Science Internships
Conservation Science Institute is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Recently, we have broadened our strategic vision of the ways good science can be used to enable the recovery of ecosystems. Part of this new vision is to promote other researchers through our fellowship program. Conservation Science Institute is now dedicated to helping younger scientists get started and become successful. Accordingly, we want to help interns work on meaningful conservation projects that fit with the Institute's mission. We cannot provide funding for interns at this time, but can help you advance your growth in the field of conservation science through the following services.
1) Because we want you to secure funding to work in your area of interest, we are establishing a development team to help Conservation Science Institute fellows receive grant funding. So, consider becoming a fellow (see: http://www.conservationinstitute.org/fellowships.htm).
2) Conservation Science Institute staff will attempt to find other scientists working in your area of interest. We will work to find cooperating scientists who would be willing to work with you as a collaborator and take you on in a mentoring relationship, as appropriate. You must provide specific information about your interests so we can attempt to find such collaborators. In addition, you should review the interests of the current Conservation Science Institute fellows to determine if you would like to team up with any of them (go to http://www.conservationinstitute.org/aboutus.htm).
3) Conservation Science Institute promotes the publication of papers in scientific journals. We would be happy to assist you in your efforts to publish. We can provide information about journal selection and appropriate reviewers, and we may be able to review early drafts of your work. Publication of your work will enhance your standing in the field, and we will do what we can to assist you.
4) Sometimes the Conservation Science Institute Executive Director and/or Science Director are looking for assistance on one of their projects. If you are interested in working with the Conservation Science Institute staff please send them an e-mail indicating this and include information detailing your personal science interests.
