Mark Scheuerell Ph.D. - CSI Fellow - Vitae 34KB

Mark Scheuerell is a quantitative ecologist with the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Scheuerell received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 2002. His general research interests include habitat coupling among marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystems and the role of humans and climate in structuring ecological systems. Mark uses a combination of simulation and statistical modeling approaches to investigate the effects of climate and ocean conditions on the survival and age composition of Pacific salmon. He has also developed a habitat-based life-cycle model for use in conservation planning for salmon with colleagues at the University of Washington and NMFS. Mark continues to collaborate with the UW Alaska Salmon Program, studying how climate variation and food web dynamics affect salmon populations and their coastal ecosystems.  In his free time Mark likes to ski, ride his bikes, play ultimate frisbee, and spend time with his wife and daughter.
