Christos Mammides is a graduate of Columbia University with his M.A. in
Conservation Biology. His research included the study of three primate
species in the Kakamega Forest, Kenya, investigating the effects of
human disturbance and food supply on primate population densities.
After receiving his B.S. in Biology from San Diego State University in
2003, Christos moved on to earn his Graduate Diploma in Management in
2004 from the Mediterranean Institute of Management in Nicosia, Cyprus.
He wrote his graduate thesis on the "Management of Non-Governmental
Organizations (NGOs)."
Christos is currently focused on preparing to attend graduate school to
start his PhD in Fall 2007. He is interested in a project that deals
with conservation issues in developing countries. Conservation topics
that also look into the social aspect of a conservation issue are what
interest him most, particularly issues between humans and wildlife. He
traveled to East Africa while working on his MA thesis and would like to
work and study there again.
Christos has worked as a project investigator while working on his MA
thesis, as a teaching assistant for the Center for Environmental
Research and Conservation while at Columbia University,
and
as a field assistant at Cyprus BirdLife while studying for his diploma
in Management.
In his spare time, Christos enjoys scuba diving and photographing
wildlife.
