Juerg M. Brunnschweiler
is a member of the American Elasmobranch Society, the American Society of
Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, the Oceania Chondrichthyan Society, and
the Animal Behaviour Society. His main areas of research are the behaviour,
ecology, and conservation of sharks. Current research topics include:

small-scale movement patterns of bull sharks, Carchahinus leucas, in the
South Pacific

Movement patterns
and habitat use of whale sharks, Rhincodon typus, in the Indian Ocean

The ecology of
echeneids (e.g. the sharksucker, Echeneis naucrates) and their hosts

The development,
sustainable implementation, and maintenance of a small marine reserve
(Shark Reef Marine Reserve) in Fiji

dynamics of various shark species at Shark Reef Marine Reserve
