Brian Petersen grew
up in spectacular northern Idaho and witnessed early on the splendor of
nature and the lasting scars of poor resource management. Petersen did his
undergraduate work at the University of Idaho, receiving a BS in
Environmental Science, with a minor in Botany. After graduating, he worked
at the School for Field Studies on Vancouver Island, B.C. and later worked
with the National Park Service conducting spotted owl and coho salmon
studies in northern California. In 2001, Petersen returned to graduate
school at the University of Washington in the joint Public
Administration/Forest Resources program where he earned an M.P.A. from the
Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs, certificate in Conservation
Biology Policy in June 2003 and Masters of forest resources. He lives Santa
Cruz, California where he hopes to utilize his education and experience in
shaping and promoting sound conservation policy. Petersen is interested in
endangered species management, forest protection, ocean management, climate
change, and alternative energy. Petersen is a Conservation Science Institute
officer (secretary), and he is leading the effort to publish a monthly e-
newsletter for CSI. |
